AUSTIN, Texas — Google is investing $2 billion in a startup that wants to build a “world-Class” internet of internet of stuffs that would enable IoT and cloud-based applications.
The investment comes as the Internet of Things (IoT) industry continues to grow and as the tech giant looks to expand its global reach.
Google’s investment in the startup is in the form of an investment in a total of 2,500 acres in central Texas, according to a statement from the search giant.
Google says the acquisition will bring more than 10,000 jobs to the area, as well as the opportunity to continue to build the company’s technology infrastructure.
Google has invested more than $200 million in Texas over the past decade.
