The internet of devices and services, known as the IoT, has become a major player in the global economy and is expected to become the number one IoT market by 2021, according to research from research firm IDC.
The market for IoT devices, which can be used to power devices and control services, is expected hit $1.7 trillion by 2021 and could surpass the $1 trillion in global IoT spending by 2024.
The report estimates that IoT devices account for 20% of global IoT sales, accounting for $400 billion.
The top 10 IoT devices by revenue in the United States in 2021, by revenue, are: Samsung, which has sold $1 billion worth of its Galaxy smartphones and other Samsung-branded devices.
Amazon, which is the biggest seller of smart home products.
Microsoft, which sells a range of products including the Surface and Surface Pro.
Google, which owns Google Home, a home automation device and a Google Play Store.
IBM, which makes a range and also sells a variety of products.
Cisco, which also makes a number of products and services for smart home appliances.
Cisco also said it is working with several partners to improve the interoperability between its products.
Google is one of several companies to have been acquired by Amazon in recent years.
