Huawei and Lenovo are partners with Digital Ocean on a new cybersecurity certification initiative for Internet of Things (IoT) devices, the companies announced Tuesday.
The partnership comes as Internet of things (IoS) companies such as Dell and Lenovo, along with several other companies, have begun releasing IoT certification standards for IoT devices.
Dell and Lenovo jointly announced the new certification program in December, announcing that the two companies will work together to support the IoT certification process through their Digital Ocean IoT Certification Center, a digital certification and certifying and support center.
In December, Lenovo announced a partnership with DigitalOcean to support IoT certification for its ThinkPad X1s, which have been among the most popular IoT devices to be sold globally.
On Tuesday, Dell and Huawei announced a new partnership that aims to bring IoT certification to IoT devices, as well.
“As the world’s leading IoT device vendor, we are excited to be working with Huawei and Huawei Technologies on a series of IoT certifications,” said Dell CEO Michael Dell in a statement.
“This partnership will allow us to provide more clarity to our customers about the interoperability between our products and the IoT ecosystem, as they continue to make the most of their IoT capabilities.
We look forward to expanding our partnership with Huawei, a leading IoT partner that has a proven track record for innovation and the highest quality certification in the industry.”
Dell’s partnership with Lenovo follows its recent announcement that it would partner with Digital Cloud, a cloud computing service provider, to offer IoT certification certification for all its IoT devices in the future.
Digital Cloud has previously partnered with Dell, but it has yet to release certification guidelines for IoT.
As part of the partnership, Dell will provide information about certification options and how to apply for the certification.
The certification center will be open to the public and will provide guidance on the requirements and processes to help IoT certification professionals understand and comply with the certification guidelines.
Dell will also provide training and resources for developers who wish to build products based on the certification standards.
The two companies have not yet announced pricing details for the IoT certifying service.
